First program focus for CTE month is our Nursing Services. This a dual enrollment program with TCAT Crump and students get four of their classes completed towards their LPN! Ms. Ruthie Boroughs does a fantastic job teaching our future nurses and also managing the health sciences student organization HOSA!

It is National CTE Month and DCSS wants to highlight some of the amazing programs we have in CTE! What is CTE? Career-Technical Education includes any programs that prepare students for college and career in a specific industry! In Decatur County, we have Human-Social Services, Veterinary Science, Agriculture Mechanics, Advanced Manufacturing, Electrical/Plumbing, HVAC, Networking/Cabling, Teaching as a Profession, and Nursing Services. Most of these programs are dual-enrollment for all four years, earning students college credits, credentials, or licenses! We also have CTE in our middle school! Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED prior to employment and successfully pass a TBI fingerprint background screening. The applicant will also need a completed Health Screening Physical Form from a licensed Physician. Decatur County Schools will be closed next week due to the low temperatures as well as the lack of heat in some areas of the school system and the threat of bad weather. We hope this will keep everyone safe and warm and we look forward to seeing students return on Monday, January 22nd. All afterschool will be closed.
Decatur County Schools will be closed on Monday for MLK Jr day and then closed the remainder of the week due to extremely low temperatures and the threat of inclement weather. Wind chills are predicted to be in the negatives and we want to keep everyone safe and warm.
REMINDER: The Decatur County Sheriff's Department will be on site tomorrow (Tuesday, 1/9) at Decaturville Elementary to fingerprint students.
