
PES had a visit from Buster the Bus last week to teach the students about bus and traffic safety.







Congratulations to Jack Cupples on scoring 1000 points in his middle school basketball career! He is now the DCMS Highest Scorer in its history!


FCCLA members led 5th graders in fun activities to help build their self-esteem. They shared positive affirmations with each other and discussed bullying.

Please join us for the DES vs. PES game Friday night and watch all of the student basketball teams from PreK-4th grade. The cost is $2 to get in and the schools will split the proceeds!


Mary Milam turned in tickets for a positive office visit!! Mary is always on task, she is responsible, and she is a very hard worker!! Ms. Brooklyn Smith had lots of great things to say about Mary!


The basketball game tonight at Riverside High School will be played at the regular time at 6:00pm. The gate will open at 4:00pm. It will be the regularly scheduled Senior Night!


Afterschool will still be CLOSED on Friday, February 3rd. There will be no afterschool or smart school tomorrow at any schools.

Due to the possibility of hazardous driving conditions with refreezing of roads and fallen trees, a decision has been made to cancel school for Friday, February 3rd. This decision was made after discussion with EMS, School Transportation Supervisor, School Safety Director, and Decatur County School Board Members.


Because the National Weather Service has extended the Ice Storm Warning for Decatur County through Thursday 6:00 am, Decatur County Schools and the Afterschool Programs will be closed Thursday, February 2nd.


Decatur County Schools will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday due to the Winter Storm Warning from 6pm-noon tues. Tomorrow’s basketball with Adamsville has been been postponed. Afterschool and all other school activities need to be out of the school by 6:00 pm. All activities are cancelled for Tuesday and Wednesday.

The Pre-Bid Construction Meeting for the ECLC project has been changed to Friday, February 3rd at 10:00am.

Paraprofessional (Teaching Assistant)
The Decatur County School System is seeking applications for a Paraprofessional (Teacher Assistant) position. Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED. Prior to employment, the applicant selected must verify 2 years of college or pass the Parapro Assessment. Applicants must also successfully pass a TBI Fingerprint Background check as well as a physical by a Licensed Physician. Applications may be picked up at the Board of Education Office, filled out online, or downloaded from www.decaturcountyschools.com under the Employment tab, Noncertified Application, and sent to Hugh Smith, Human Resources Supervisor, at Decatur County Board of Education, P.O. Box 369, 59 West Main Street, Decaturville, TN 38329 or emailed to hugh.smith@decaturschools.org. The deadline for submitting an application is Friday, January 27, 2023.


Decatur County Schools will be closed on Monday, January 16th for MLK, Jr. Day. Students will be back in school on Tuesday.
