Welcome to the Panther Pack, Ms. Lauren Scott! 💙💛💙

.
Decatur County Schools is proud to welcome Ms. Lauren Scott, who will be joining Parsons Elementary School to teach 4th grade English Language Arts this school year.

.
Lauren is no stranger to Decatur County—she attended our schools as a child and now calls this community home. She graduated in May from the University of Tennessee at Martin with a Bachelor of Science degree in K–5 Elementary Education. While completing her degree, she student-taught in both first- and fifth-grade classrooms and loved every moment spent learning and growing alongside her students.

.
When asked who inspired her to pursue education, Lauren shared: “Ever since I can remember, I’ve wanted to teach. As a kid, I would come home from school just to play school with my stuffed animals and a makeshift classroom in my bedroom. Life has been full of uncertainty, but that dream has always remained. I remember, as a student myself, the hearts that tended to mine—teachers who paved the way for joy in learning and growth in and out of the classroom. I hope to be that for my own students.”

.
Lauren is especially excited to return to Parsons Elementary as a teacher: “I’ve spent lots of time at Parsons Elementary as a student, through observations, subbing, and student teaching. The community there is one I’m both excited to learn from and give back to. I look forward to cultivating student growth and growing alongside my first group of students.”

.
Ms. Lauren's goals for this year are simple and heartfelt: “My goal is to lead and support students in their learning, for them to feel welcomed, proud of where they are, and proud of where they are going as their education becomes their own.”

.
PES Principal Mrs. Lisa Renfroe shared, “We are so excited to welcome Ms. Scott to our team. She has such a genuine passion for teaching and a kind spirit that will make a wonderful impact on our students and our school family.”

.
Please help us give Ms. Lauren Scott a big Panther Pack welcome as she begins this exciting new chapter. We can’t wait to see all the great things she will accomplish! 💙💛💙
