To Our Parents, Students, and Community Members,
,
The Decatur County School System was recently made aware of a potential threat involving one of our schools. I want to personally assure you that we take all threats seriously and are fully committed to ensuring the safety of our students, staff, and campuses.
,
At this time, our knowledge and information regarding the situation is limited. However, we can confirm that the individual responsible for making the threat is currently in custody. We are continuing to work closely with law enforcement to monitor and assess the situation.

We would like to express our sincere appreciation to local law enforcement agencies for their swift response. Their prompt action was instrumental in addressing the situation quickly.
.
We will continue to keep our school community informed. As more details become available, we will share updates through the Decatur County School System’s official website and Facebook page.

Thank you for your understanding, support, and continued partnership in keeping our schools safe.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Melinda Thompson
