- - PES LEAPS Afterschool Program - - PES LEAPS AS in continuing our Fall Fun Friday theme and to celebrate Walktober, went on a nature hike around the Parsons Elementary School campus. While on the hike, students collected leaves and small twigs. After a quick demonstration from LEAPS Program Coordinator Angie Mangrum, students covered a toilet paper roll with tissue paper and inserted the leaves and twig in the center for a stem (see attached picture). Each student proudly took their fall pumpkin home.
- - PES LEAPS Afterschool Program- -
On Thursday Oct. 17th, PES LEAPS Afterschool Program Healthy Choices Tutor Crystal Sharp in partnership with Decatur County Schools Coordinated School Health Jessica Hollingsworth, made Bruschetta Grilled Cheese with students. Students learned knife safety skills and helped to prep by chopping veggies. Students received a copy of the recipe to take home and were encouraged to continue to make healthy choices such as using olive oil instead of butter.
