Decatur County Schools

Mr. Jay Cox, high school English teacher, was named Teacher of the Month at Riverside High School for the month of November. According to fellow teachers, Mr. Cox is a dedicated team play and goes above and beyond for the students and organizations.  Mr. Jay, as he is known by his students, works well with the students with disabilities and is very understanding with their accommodations to help them be successful in his class.  He also took over as student council advisor and is doing a great job with that.  Mr. Jay puts forth so much effort to make RHS a healthy environment and he always answers questions and tries to help new teachers.  You can always find Mr. Cox after school for quite a bit of time because he puts forth so much effort and extra time.  His administration said, “Jay did a tremendous job in planning the Reward Day for our students last month.” Mr. Cox is not a Decatur County native, but we are so grateful he chose this as his home and we feel like he has been here his whole life!
