Decatur County Schools

Mr. Jay Cox, high school English teacher, was named Teacher of the Month at Riverside High School. Faculty and staff at RHS had wonderful things to say about Mr. Cox who joined our school system this year, “He does an excellent job interacting with ALL groups of kids, not just the academically motivated. He is available after school for tutoring and makes an extra effort to help seniors finish English IV and graduate!  Jay has established a great rapport with the kids and is always on point encouraging students. He is always helping with keeping students on track for graduation, all in while causing the bathroom traffic to decrease, which is lowering the discipline incidents. Students connect well with Mr. Cox and enjoy his class. His teaching has a great combination of rigor and application for the students. Additionally, Mr. Cox is a positive contributor to the teaching staff with his insightful ideas and optimistic attitude.  This guy is the real deal! He is a team player and is willing to do whatever it takes to make RHS successful!”  Mr. Jay is a wonderful addition to the Decatur County family and we are blessed he chose to move to Decatur County.
