Due to the possibility of hazardous driving conditions with refreezing of roads and fallen trees, a decision has been made to cancel school for Friday, February 3rd. This decision was made after discussion with EMS, School Transportation Supervisor, School Safety Director, and Decatur County School Board Members.
Since school will not be in session tomorrow, February 2nd, the County 4-H contest has been rescheduled for Thursday, February 9th. The contest will still be held at DCMS.
Because the National Weather Service has extended the Ice Storm Warning for Decatur County through Thursday 6:00 am, Decatur County Schools and the Afterschool Programs will be closed Thursday, February 2nd.
SPIN night at DCMS has been cancelled. There is no school Jan. 31st or Feb. 1st. Stay safe.
Decatur County Schools will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday due to the Winter Storm Warning from 6pm-noon tues. Tomorrow’s basketball with Adamsville has been been postponed. Afterschool and all other school activities need to be out of the school by 6:00 pm. All activities are cancelled for Tuesday and Wednesday.

Paraprofessional (Teaching Assistant)
The Decatur County School System is seeking applications for a Paraprofessional (Teacher Assistant) position. Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED. Prior to employment, the applicant selected must verify 2 years of college or pass the Parapro Assessment. Applicants must also successfully pass a TBI Fingerprint Background check as well as a physical by a Licensed Physician. Applications may be picked up at the Board of Education Office, filled out online, or downloaded from www.decaturcountyschools.com under the Employment tab, Noncertified Application, and sent to Hugh Smith, Human Resources Supervisor, at Decatur County Board of Education, P.O. Decatur County Schools will be closed on Monday, January 16th for MLK, Jr. Day. Students will be back in school on Tuesday.
